Press Release –
The 2010 GNCC season got off to a great start at Westgate River Ranch on Sunday for Yoshimura Suzuki rider Chris Borich, after he made a series of carefully executed passes in the final laps of the race to take the checkered flag in the XC1 Pro event.
Chris started the race in fifth place, but by racing smart and biding his time with his Yoshimura-equipped QuadRacer R450, he took advantage of every possible opportunity.
“I knew it was going to be a rough track and I just paced myself and then made my move,” said Borich. “I just let the track come to me and everyone made little mistakes and I was able to take advantage of it. I pretty much made my moves around the mud holes and anywhere else I could find.”
Chris was in third place by the time the riders hit the woods for the first time, and there he stayed until the second to last lap of the race. With just over a lap to go, he made the pass for second and started his charge to the lead. On the last lap he managed to make the final pass for the lead, and by the end of the race Chris had opened a 1.4 second lead over second place.
Chris was heavily favored to win due to his dominance of last year’s GNCC series, during which he took 9 race wins, two additional podiums, and finished the series an impressive 97 points ahead of second place. Chris is looking to continue that domination this season, and if his performance on Sunday is any indication, Chris is well on his way to piloting his Yoshimura-equipped Suzuki to another GNCC title.
