For the past couple years Yamaha has proudly held its XT-R Challenge event so customers can put their riding competence on display in some seriously outrageous situations while pushing the boundaries of the durability and performance of Yamaha’s off-road vehicles.
Yamaha has always been extremely confident in its quality and these events have provided an ideal platform to put a giant kudos stamp on its #ProvenOffRoad claim to fame.
For MY2020 Yamaha set out to support and tie-in the XT-R message with special editions of the Grizzly, YXZ and X2 and X4 Wolverines. It should be noted, Yamaha didnÂ’t necessarily come up with all of the XT-R features themselves.
The real format for XT-R came from Yamaha customers who have been asking for upgrades such as factory installed winches, specific color schemes and several radical tire/wheel combos, to name a few.
Yamaha added new piggyback KYB shocks for the Wolverine, a special automobile-like mirror and way-cool lighting on the YXZ and other features to further boost the performance and terrain-ability of these XT-R models. You can also order an array of additional Yamaha accessories to further deck out your vehicles.
One XT-R upgrade we’re particularly excited about is the addition of factory-installed WARN winches on all XT-R units. Yamaha die-hards have been asking for winches but the fact Yamaha didnÂ’t just slap on some budget-level, discount brand winch and say; “There, happy now?” is something that speaks volumes about the companyÂ’s unwavering commitment to use the very best products to ensure absolute confidence in quality and ultimate durability. The XT-R Grizzly features a factory-installed 2,500-pound Pro Vantage winch with steel cable and upgraded contactor. Coming installed straight from the factory means you know the connectors, mounts and installation are done the right way so you can rest assured its ready for work when needed. The YXZ and Wolverines come with a factory-installed 4,500 lb WARN VRX winch with steel cable, upgraded contactor and a new winch-ready front bumper.
