Question:
Dear Motorhead,
I’m in the market for a new machine, but which is better – big bore or twin? I do a lot of mud and also trails on the Canadian shield, so for ride, the Polaris 850 has me thinking it has everything I need.
Still though the Yami 700 has a few things I like. Honda has the tranny I like and reliability…ARGH! Maybe I should buy ’em all!

Thanks for your email!
You have a pretty good sense for what you want. The Polaris is a stellar ride with great handling and suspension. The XP 850 engine is a rocket with tons of low end grunt.
The Grizzly 700 is a stellar mount as well. Good ride, solid handling, reliable and available with EPS – as is the Polaris and I would highly recommend you look at EPS. Once you’ve ridden with it you won’t go back.
The 680 Honda is underpowered when compared to the others, has no low range so snowplowing becomes a problem. However, it is reliable.
If I were you I would look very closely at your available dealerships. This is going to be the key factor in your purchase. Good service, a good deal and solid support from a dealer can outweigh a lot of cool technical features.
Good luck!
