How Can I Improve Mileage On Sportsman 600?

Question:

Dear Motorhead,

I have a 2005 600 Sportsman and it is a pig on gas. I get half the mileage per tank compared to a 700. How can I fix this and what is the difference between the 600 and 700 besides bore?

Thanks,

Craig

Response:

Thanks for your email!

There are few differences between your 600 Sportsman and a 700. Mostly it is clutch calibration and carb jetting. You should consider reducing the size of your main jet to improve your mileage. Our experience has shown that the 600 was better than the 700 on fuel when it was in production.
