Press Release –
Originally scheduled as part of Troy Lee’s “Duel at the Docks” AMA Supermoto Final weekend at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, the NASMOTO pro and amateur ATVA Grand Championship will now take place two weeks earlier, on Sunday, October 15th at the Fairgrounds Music City Motorplex in Nashville, TN.
“There were some insurance liability issues with regard to running ATVs at the Queen,” said NASMOTO VP Ted Baker. “Although the venue change has inconvenienced some racers – and believe me, we feel badly about that – we are nonetheless fortunate to be able to wrap up the ATV season on an incredible track in Nashville.”
The ATV final will be part of X’treme Cycle Jam ’06, a full weekend of intense supermoto racing at Nashville’s Motorplex. Contenders for the national pro title include Zac Willett, Daryl Rath, and Nick Granlund, who has dominated the series so far.
“We are still hoping and expecting to have all the top pro and amateur ATV riders show up, despite the schedule change,” said Baker. “But it’s worth noting that we do want to make sure we’ve got full grids in both classes, so interested riders should be going to www.nasmoto.com to pre-register via our technology partner XBUX.”
“The ATV racers have definitely been stirring up some excitement this season,” said Joel Grover, Director of AMA Supermoto, who also happens to be a former pro ATV champion himself. “Things can get pretty wild out there with four wheels on a supermoto track, and the crowds love it. We are making the best of this last-minute venue change and expect to have a fantastic AMA Grand Championship.”
The most recent stop in the NASMOTO series featuring the ATVs was a successful weekend at The Grange in Apple Valley, CA Sept. 30 – Oct. 1. The series has been criss-crossing the country all season with the key help of sponsors like Duro Tire, which has taken a leadership role in promoting the sport.
